This is currently manifesting as failures in perfomance tests for Intel-x520 NIC.

Whether vppctl or cli_inband PAPI are used, reply to "show hardware detail" call takes around 5.6 seconds (more than the default PAPI timeout of 5 seconds). In comparison, it takes around 1.3 seconds for Intel-x710 NIC, which is still quite a lot, suggesting there is a bug to fix in VPP.

Looking into test result archives, this issue has been present a very long time. Only since CSIT migrated from VAT to PAPI it started affecting tests. Of course, CSIT can change the timeout value to hide this bug, but if a fix in VPP is possible, it would be preferable.
